Eduardo Valseca returned home in January 2008 and during that time he weighed only 100 pounds and even less than that. After he was released, he could barely speak or move, which was visible from his physique. Jayne, the wife of the kidnapped personality, told CNN that he was so weak that he could not even smile after his release. It took several hours, a lot of liquid, food, and various smiles from the children to make him barely speak or whisper anything. Shortly after the release, the family moved to the United States where they started creating awareness about how the crime was organized, which affected people on both sides of the border.

The couple ended up living in Washington, DC where his wife took her last breath and died because of cancer, according to the Los Angeles Times. Since then, Eduardo has been living a quiet life and living outside the media. Although he was questioned many times from the side of the family members and the police, he could barely remember anything or speak. The only thing he could depict is that he was shot in his leg and arm and the kidnappers were wearing a mask. They could hardly bear the charge of his food; he would go without any food for around three days and even without water.
