David Lipsky is a professional golfer from the United States who attended Northwestern University, where he was an All-American and won the Big Ten individual tournament in 2010. Early Life
David Lipsky was born on 14th July 1988 to Korean parents Aaron Lipsky and Yon Suk Lipsky in Los Angeles. At the age of 10, his parents taught him the basics of the game. Lipsky attended La Canada High School, where he maintained a 4.0 grade point average, and went on to win the 2003 Ashworth Postseason at Mission Hills.
High School Career
David Lipsky also won the 2004 Junior Tour Championship at PGA West and the Rio Hondo High School League Tournament in both 2004 and 2005. As a senior, he averaged a 36 on the season and was awarded MVP of the Rio Hondo League in both 2004 and 2005. He was also chosen to be the First Team all-Los Angeles Area in 2005. In 2006, he received his diploma.
After high school, Lipsky entered Northwestern University on a partial golf scholarship to study political science and history. In 2007-08, he finished first with a score of 139 at the Notre Dame Invitational and first with a score of 68 at the Jacksonville Dual Match. Lipsky’s overall scoring average was 74.47. His 2008–2009 accolades included second-team All–Big Ten honors, GCAA PING All–Region recognition, and Academic All–Big Ten status.
Lipsky shot a 3-under 281 over the course of 72 holes to win the 2010 Big Ten Individual Championship. He was named to the GCAA PING All-Midwest Region team, the All-Academic Big Ten team, and the All-Big Ten first team. His 71.88 season stroke average ranks sixth best in school history. His lifetime stroke average of 72.97 ranks fourth in school history, behind only Luke Donald, Tom Johnson, and Jess Daley, and his season stroke average of 72.02 is seventh all-time.

After graduation in 2011, David Lipsky embarked on a professional career. Lipsky won a medal at the Asian Tour Qualifying School in January 2012. In only his third start on the tour, he won the 2012 Handa Faldo Cambodian Classic, earning him $47,550 and a winner’s exemption through the end of 2014. He went on to finish 11th in the Rookie Order of Merit. As of 2013, he was a member of the Web.com Tour. In The Championship at Laguna National, a tournament co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the European Tour in May of 2014, he finished second, one stroke behind the winner, Felipe Aguilar of Chile.
In addition to qualifying for his first major championship (the 2015 Open Championship) and his first World Golf Championship (the 2015 WGC-Cadillac Championship) and a European Tour exemption through 2016, Lipsky won the Omega European Masters and finished the Asian Tour season leading the Order of Merit. By year’s end, he had climbed into the top 150 in the world. Lipsky won the Alfred Dunhill Championship, held in South Africa on December 16. Two tours, the European and the Sunshine, jointly sanctioned this tournament.
