Brayden Smith was one of the common contestants on the Jeopardy show. He was a five-time champion on the show and made appearances in some of Alex Trebek’s (1940–2020) last episodes. However, it is confirmed that he died on 5th February 2021 while being at the age of 24. He died in Las Vegas because of the complications of medical conditions.

Personal Life

Brayden Smith did not reveal the name of his girlfriend before his demise. He was not involved with anyone romantically nor did he give any hint regarding his love life. Rather, he was focusing on making his career in Jeopardy and was having the ambition to pursue law at a well-recognized school.

Cause of Death

Brayden Smith underwent abdominal surgery before his death in February 2021. He was the last contestant who appeared with Alex Trebek on the show. Alex Trebek died in November 2020 after battling pancreatic cancer. He was around 80- years old before his demise. Smith’s parents filed a lawsuit against the hospital on Monday, i.e, 10th January 2022. Smith was being treated inside the St. Rose Dominican Hospital for surgery.

Lawsuit

The parents have filed a 14-page civil complaint and affidavits from two doctors and a nurse alleging negligence and medical malpractice. Dignity Health under which the hospital has been nominated has not yet commented on the litigation. According to Robert Murdock, an attorney for the parents said in a statement that this is not just death. He was admitted to the hospital for surgery. It is the cause of negligence of the nurses, doctors, and other medical staff involved that caused the death of the young man. Smith was suffering from ulcerative colitis and underwent surgery in January 2021. He was pronounced sound and healthy and was sent home for recuperation but collapsed three weeks later. This is why he was hospitalized again before he died of blood clots in his lungs.
