Austin Li Coon was born on 23rd October 1996 and grew up in San Jose, California. He had his education at Bellarmine College Preparatory from 2010 to 2014 and also went to UNSW in 2016. From 2014 to 2018, he received his degree in Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Economics Honors, Management. He went to Purdue University where he completed a B.S. degree and received a grade of 3.96.

After completing his studies at Bellarmine College Preparatory, Austin Li Coon began working as a coach for the same college. He worked for three months [Jun 2014 to Aug 2014] as a volleyball coach. During that time, he taught 5th to 8th-grade kids how to play volleyball.
From May 2015 to Jul 2015, he worked for Bay to Bay Volleyball Club as a coach and taught volleyball to 13 and 14-year-old students. He worked as a research assistant for Vernon Smith Experimental Economics Laboratory, at Purdue University from January 2015 to December 2015.

Survivor Season 45
Before coming to the show, Austin went through hard training. For the past couple of months, he has been doing around 60-hour fasting and his friends and classmates have been asking him why is he fasting for so long. Without telling his friends that he was going to attend the show, Survivor, he continued with his practices.
He did 230-mile backpacking on the John Muir Trail, climbed to the top of Half Dome, and did backpacking with around 40 pounds of weight to Mount Whitney for 230 miles, etc. he says that during the time of intense practise, he was only thinking of the show, Survivor.
