Anton Watson is a well-known American college basketball player who plays the Power forward position for the Gonzaga Bulldogs of the West Coast Conference (WCC). Hails from a family of basketball geeks from his father to siblings, he is on his way to make it to the professional scene in the coming future. Anton is probably one of those players who perform out of his mind when it matters the most.

Anton Watson was born on 6th October 2000 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, which makes him 22 years old as of 2023. His father, Deon Sr., played college basketball at the University of Idaho (1990–94). At that time, his father held the Vandal record for career rebounds (877) and played professionally in Europe and South America.

His mother is Anna Hegbloom Watson. His brother Deon Watson Jr. married and was blessed with children named Julius. Previously, his brother played college football at the college where his father had his education (2013 – 2016). Deon Watson Jr. played as a tight end and wide receiver, there at Idaho University.

His sister Haile Watson is also an athlete. She had commitments with her playing collegiate universities including Eastern Washington (2015) and Fresno State (2016–18). Talking about Anton Watson’s education, he graduated from Gonzaga Preparatory School in Spokane, Washington. Later, he enrolled at Gonzaga University.

Anton Watson is a four-star recruiter player and in June 2017, he was committed to playing college basketball for the Gonzaga Bulldogs men’s basketball team, wearing jersey no #22.  He played as a freshman in 15 games with 5 games started.

Watson recorded 4.9 points, 1.2 steals, 53.8% (FG%), and 3.1 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per game. He missed the final 14 games of the season due to his shoulder injury and suffering. He played as a sophomore in 32 games with 17 games started.

He recorded 6.9 points, 1.2 steals, 63% (FG%), and 3.3 rebounds in 18.9 minutes per game. He played as a junior in 32 games. He made the career record of 7.3 points, 1.3 steals, 53% (FG%), and 4.7 rebounds in 18.1 minutes per game, during the season.

With his presence on the team, the team reached the league championship and a third-place finish at the 2019 Washington Class 4A state tournament. Subsequently, he earned the title of “Associated Press 4A Player of the Year”. His skill set has made him receive the title honor of “Washington Mr. Basketball 2019”.

  • In his sophomore season (2016-17), he averaged 19 points per game.
  • In his junior season (2017-18), he averaged 23 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists per game. He earned the honor of the Class 4A state title and the tournament MVP honors. He was in the NBPA Top 100 Camp (2018) and selected to the USA Today All-USA Washington first team.
  • In his senior season (2018-19), he averaged 21.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. He was named the 2019 MVP of the Greater Spokane League.
