Karl Heinz urban is an actor and producer from New Zealand. He was born in Wellington, New Zealand on 7th June 1972. His career started with his debut in a New Zealand tv series called Xena: warrior princess and went on to receive worldwide acclaim for his acting and work.
Early life
Karl was born in Wellington, New Zealand on 7th July 1972 and is currently 49 years old. His father, Juergen urban was a German immigrant who owned a leather goods store, and his mother, Kate sackoff worked for film facilities in Wellington from where his keen interest in films and productions grew. He went to st. Marks church school. He loved taking part in drama and theatre. Further, after his high schooling, he enrolled in Wellington college from 1986 to 1990 in the Bachelor of Arts program. He dropped out though, in order to pursue his career. Initially, he was offered tv commercials and some local theatre roles in Wellington but to realize his bigger ambitions, he moved to Auckland where he was offered guest roles in tv shows such as police drama “shark in the park”. He then moved to Australia in 1995 but shortly returned back to New Zealand.

Although Karl’s acting career started when he was 8 years old. It was just a small line for a tv series. Karl didn’t act until high school then. He was offered a role in 1992 in a New Zealand soap opera called “Shortland Street” when he was preparing to attend university. Karl did participate in the role and appeared in the series from 1993 to 1994 after which he attended Victoria university for a year and dropped out to pursue his acting career. He landed some theatre roles in Auckland where he was offered a guest role in a tv series called “shark in the park”.
He also played quite a lot of roles in New Zealand movies and tv series before moving to international cinema. Some of the acclaimed movies he did when he was in New Zealand are Xena, the warrior princess where he played both Cupid and Julius Caesar from 1997 to 2001. He entered the international cinema with a Hollywood horror movie called “ghost ship” in 2001. There was no stopping him. He received many, many high profile movies like: “The Lord of the rings”, “The Bourne supremacy”, “The Chronicles of Riddick”, “Star Trek”,” Thor: Ragnarok” and many more that prove the critical acclaim this artist gained worldwide for his versatile acting.

As celebrities, hiding one’s personal life is next to impossible when paparazzi are swarming all over them. Karl married his long-time partner Natalie wilhongi (a makeup artist) whom he met during the shooting of “the privateers”. They together have two sons namely Hunter and Indiana. Unfortunately, things went south with the two and they separated in November of 2014. However, he was quick to move on and started dating actress kate Sackoff who is an American actress since 2014. This also ended in 2018 though.
