Tyler Glasnow is an American personality and a baseball pitcher playing for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB). Previously, he played for the Pittsburgh Pirates while contracting with the MLB.

Early Life

Tyler Glasnow was born on 23rd August 1993 in Santa Clarita, California, and belongs to an athletic family. His father’s name is Greg; he was a swimmer and a water polo athletic personality. His mother’s name is Donna, and she is a retired gymnast once a coach at Cal State Northridge.

Tyler was brought up along with his older brother, Ted, titled as a decathlete for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Both father and mother (Greg and Donna) served as hardwood retailers in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Tyler Glasnow Career 

Tyler was committed to playing baseball for the University of Portland during his college games. He was drafted by the MLB in 2011 in the fifth round by “The Pittsburgh Pirates.”

Pittsburgh Pirates (2016–2018)

Tyler began his season in 2017 in Pittsburgh’s starting rotation. First, he had to struggle with the command, giving up five runs on four hits and had to walk with five runs in 1+2⁄3 innings pitched. He was made as an option to be transferred to Indianapolis in June after he made a record-making score of 7.45 ERA and 1.91 WHIP over 12 starts. Then, in the spring of 2018, THe Pirates decided that Tyler would now be the relief pitcher for the upcoming 2018 season.

Tampa Bay Rays (2018 to Present)

On 31st July 2018, Tyler was transferred or traded to the Tampa Bay Rays along with other players, including Austin Meadows and Shane Baz- who was traded for Chris Archer. After getting traded, he was immediately inserted into the starting rotation. During the season, he made the record-making scores for his career – 11 starts with a run average of 4.20, recording 64 strikeouts in 55+2⁄3 innings.

In June 2021, Glasnow was placed on the injured list of the players after it was revealed that he had treatment for partial tears in the UCL and flexor strain of his right elbow. He remained on the injured list for nearly 10 days and opted for rehab rather than adopting the surgeries and other related medical interfaces.

Then, he was transferred to a list of players with 60 days of injury and issues. After that, on 31st July 2021, it was revealed that Tyler had to undergo Tommy John surgery after an unsuccessful rehab stint. He missed the chance to play for season 2021 and another chance of remaining 2022 season. Then, in August 2022, Tampa Bay Rays and Glasnow signed a contract to stay together through the 2024 season.
