Tonya Mosley is a co-host of Fresh Air. Mosley announced her departure from NPR and WBUR, where she co-hosted the midday radio show Here & Now along with Robin Young and Scott Tong. After three years, the LA-based podcaster and journalist decided to quit the public radio network to seek other possibilities.

Early Life

Tonya was born in the 1990s and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She earned a journalism degree from the University of Missouri. In several locations, including Columbia, Missouri, Lansing, Michigan, Flint, Fort Wayne, Kentucky, and Seattle, Washington, she began her career as a television reporter and producer.

She also served as an Al Jazeera America journalist. Mosley moved to San Francisco, where she became a host and the Silicon Valley bureau chief for KQED, the public radio station in the Bay Area.

Technology, culture, innovation, and social justice were among the subjects that Mosley tackled. In addition, Mosley produced and presented a race-related podcast called Truth Be Told, which in 2022 took home the Webby Award for Best Advice Podcast.


At Stanford University, where she co-created a course for journalists on the implications of implicit bias in reporting and co-wrote a Belgian/American experimental research on the consequences of protest coverage, Mosley was given a John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship in 2015.

As the third co-host of Here & Now, the noon radio program heard by millions of listeners nationwide, Mosley joins NPR and WBUR in 2019. She has started participating regularly in Terry Gross’s Fresh Air show as an interviewer.
