Shane McClanahan is an American personality who is a baseball player and plays as a pitcher for the Tampa Bay of Major League Baseball (MLB). He is new in the professional scene but still, so many experts already consider him as one of the best pitchers playing right now.

Early Life

Shane McClanahan was born on 28th April 1997, making him around 25 years old. Shane was brought up by his father James “Clancy” McClanahan and his mother Lisa McClanahan who is a homemaker. He says that he was coached his whole life till high school by his father James, who used to be very hard on him and would praise other children, giving high-fives and making them feel great. Shane has developed himself into a multi-sport athlete. He grew up playing soccer and goalie, and doing right-handed batting, and pitching, except golf. But when he was an adult, he took baseball as his career-preferable choice.

Baseball is in the blood of Shane’s family, which he inherited from his father who played baseball in his high school and was like “more football guy”. His grandfather was a lefty pitcher in his school days and he was having his uncle named Tim Hagemann, who played baseball for majorly two seasons at the low end of the minor league system. Shane earned his education from Cape Coral High School after his family moved to Southwest Florida from Baltimore and he, therefore, decided to play in college rather than signing or getting committed to the Mets. Shane was born in Baltimore and lived there until the age of 5. He went to high school in Florida only after his family shifted there.

College Career

During his high school career, Shane made the record of 29–7 with a 1.02 earned run average (ERA) along with 187 strikeouts, and 123 innings pitched. Back in 2015 while getting drafted by the Major League Baseball Draft, he was selected by the New York Mets in the 26th round. But, instead of signing a contract with the Mets, he decided to attend the University of South Florida (USF) and play college baseball. Shane did not initiate his career in college freshman season 2016, instead, he underwent Tommy John surgery. He returned from his injury and began with 15 games in 2017 and played all the games as a redshirt freshman. He made the record of overall scores of 4-2 with a 3.20 ERA and 104 strikeouts and 76 innings. In 2018, Shane played as a redshirt sophomore and made the sophomore record of 5–6 with a 3.42 ERA in 14 starts.

Professional Career

Shane began his professional hustle in 2018 when he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays with an overall 31st selection in the Major League Baseball (MLB). He made a contract with Tampa Bay worth $2,230,100 as the signing bonus. Later, he began his professional debut the same year; beginning with the GCL Rays, and was promoted to the Princeton Rays in the mid of August. During the early years of 2019, he began his games with the Bowling Green Hot Rods and was arranged as their Opening Day Starter, while he earned the honor of Midwest League All-Star. Shane was promoted to Charlotte Stone Crabs in June of the same year where he made the record of 4-4 in 11 appearances with 10 starts, 74 strikeouts, 53 innings pitched, and 3.40 ERA.
