Early Life

He appeared in the trial courts on a regular basis and argued various appeals there. When Mr. Ticktin started his practice, South Florida was gripped by the early stages of the AIDS epidemic. A Florida neighborhood dealt with a hemophilic child who was diagnosed with AIDS by torching his family’s home.

Lawyers were hesitant about meeting with an AIDS patient. Peter is a leader in the fight to right the wrongs done to AIDS sufferers. When Mr. Ticktin was at the forefront of the legal profession. On national television, he was lead counsel in the only organ donation case to ever go to trial, and he won a two-week CourtTV trial against an organ procurement organization that harvested the organs of a 7-year-old kid who was not brain dead. He was at the forefront of the anti-Robo-signing movement.

Controversy

Peter Ticktin’s law license was suspended for 91 days by the Florida Bar for doing legal work for Pony Express and Johnson at the same time, despite the fact that the bar determined he had done nothing wrong. The bar is looking into whether he devised a payment plan in which his clients take out second mortgages to pay for their foreclosure defense legal bills.
