Peter Thurnwald Biography

Peter Thurnwald is an Australian actor, director, and producer who is still a newcomer in the acting industry. Recently he appeared in the Netflix highly acclaimed series “XO, Kitty” a spin-off of the franchise ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved’.

Early life

Peter Thurnwald was born in Korea and was an orphan since his birth but later was adopted by Australian parents. He grew up in Australia in a very traditional Australian family. He never got the opportunity to know about his biological parents. Peter is completely unaware of his Korean culture, as a matter of fact, he only visited Korea once when he was 10 years old.

In school, Peter was mainly focused on sports and academics. Peter used to take part in school theatre production. Still, he never thought of making a career in acting. After secondary school, he enrolled himself at the University of Queensland.

Peter studied physics there and after that, he went on to find his biological mother when he turned 19 years old. Unfortunately, he couldn’t get any information as the orphanage he was in burned down years ago.

Peter Thurnwald has never dreamt of becoming an actor in the first place during his studies. In his final year of high school, he participated in the play ‘Flood’ by Chris Isaac which sparked his interest in acting. After watching his performance in the play a casting agent scouted him.

He got featured as an extra in many movies. He played the most notable roles in Thor Ragnarok and King Kong: skull island. Working on a film set inspired him to make a professional career in acting.  In 2016, he auditioned for the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.  Peter was selected and he completed his bachelor of acting in 2019. He has worked with Hey Films too for some time.

After graduation, he got the role of ‘Lachie Koh’ in the series Bump(2020). The series was a success and gained a huge following in Australia. In 2022 he was cast as the world champion ‘foresite’ in the CBS show ‘Players’. It was a sports parody.  The series followed Fugitive Gaming, a fictional team in pro-League of Legends.

XO, Kitty

His most recent appearance is in the Netflix series ‘XO, Kitty’ and portrays the role of a Korean adoptee. This role is kind of very personal to him because it is kind of identical to his real life and it inspires him. Peter has also produced his own TV shows in collaboration with Pathline Pictures.

Peter is passionate about directing films too. He loves the creation of a film and storytelling. His first directing job was a short film ‘Running’ starring Jonathan Lagudi, Kyle Barret, and Alexandra Nell.
