Morgan was on 10th July 1982 to her father Ronal E., the owner of a clean-up and restoration company, and her mother Denise C. Ortagus, a company manager. She spent most of her childhood in Auburndale, Florida in the United States of America along with her twin sister Megan Ortagus who is a famous actress. Morgan as a student attended a local high school after which she graduated from Florida Southern University in 2005 with a degree of Bachelors’s Science majoring in Political Science. She also attended John Hopkins University from where she received her degree of masters in Business Administration from John Hopkins Carey Business School which she received in 2009 and a Master of Arts in Government in 2013.
Morgan Ortagus Career
Morgan’s political career started in 2006 when she worked as a press secretary on former Deputy National Security Advisor K. T Mc Farland’s Senate campaign. In 2007, Morgan was an officer of public affairs at the United States Agency for International Development where she worked under George W. Bush’s administration where she spent many months in Baghdad, Iraq till 2008 which was the first government service of Morgan. Later, Morgan joined the U. S Treasury Department where she worked as an intelligence analyst which covered Africa and Middle East regions. In 2010, Morgan served as a deputy treasury attaché under the Obama administration which was based at the U.S Embassy in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.
Morgan joined the private sector after returning to the United States where she first worked as a global relationship manager at the Standard Chartered Bank where she worked with clients from Asia, the Middle East, and Africa after which in 2016 she worked as an executive director at Ernst & Young where she helped in finding EY’s Geostrategic Business Group where she worked on geopolitical risk analysis for investors. Morgan then also worked as a national security contributor and Republican strategist at the Fox News Channel and she appeared on Fox & Friends, Outnumbered, The Five, and Mornings with Maria. She later co-founded Go Advisors and Samantha Vinograd, a geopolitical risk and policy advisory firm.
Spokesperson for US State Department
She also served in the National Board of Directors of Maverick PAC as National Co-Chair. Morgan returned to the government in 2019 where she served as a spokesperson for the U.S. State Department as a successor of Heather Nauert. She was appointed as a spokesperson on April 3, 2019, which she served until Trump Administration ended and later went on maternity leave in 2020. After returning from her maternity leave, Morgan joined the Atlantic Council where she worked as a Senior Advisor of the Scowcroft Centre for Strategy and Security, and in February 2021, also started as a founding investor of Rubicon Founders which is a health care investment firm.
