Monika Czinano is an American college basketball player. She plays for the Iowa Hawkeyes of the Big Ten Conference on the power forward and centre position. Recently she played her last match for Hawkeyes after playing for five years. Monika Czinano was born on January 20, 2000, in Minnesota. She did her high school graduation from Watertown Mayer, Minnesota. Her mother is Theresa Czinano and her father is Gyula Czinano. Theresa is an English teacher in Watertown Mayer. She used to play basketball in her college days.
Monika has two younger sisters Maggie and Mallory and they both play basketball. Maggie is in college while Mallory is still in high school. Monika started playing basketball in high school. She was the captain of her high school team.
After her high school graduation, she went to Iowa University and did her major in Biology. She dropped her plan to go to med school to play basketball in her college. She is an integral part of the Iowa Hawkeye women’s basketball program.

Monika began her basketball career in high school. She was an outstanding player in her school. Monika was the captain of her team and guided her team in the conference championship in 2016 and 2017. She received three-time All-Conference honouree in school. Her remarkable performance helped her get the first-team all-state selection in 2018. She played AAU for the Minnesota Fury. Apart from basketball she also plays volleyball and is a very good swimmer.
Monika took part in other activities too like band and theatre. In 2018 she got into Iowa University. In her freshman year, she played behind Megan Gustfan, a former Hawkeye team member. By 2019 she took over the centre position in the team.
In the following season, she bagged her first career double-double at Nebraska. Monika was ranked No.1 nationally in goal percentage in 2020. Her score total of 578 points was ranked No.2 in the Big Ten Conference. She participated in Big Ten all tournaments four times. In 2023 she was selected as Unanimous First Team all big ten and Preseason first team All big ten.
During her senior year at Iowa, she became the fifth Hawkeye to surpass 2000 career points. Monika and Caitlin both team members of Hawkeyes made history by surpassing the 2000 career points at the same time in Big Ten women’s basketball history.
