Kliff Kingsbury is an American personality. He was the former quarterback and recently worked as USC’s senior offensive analyst. Previously, he was the head coach of other football teams like Texas Tech (2013-2018) and the Arizona Cardinals (2019-2022). He has developed prospects with his guidance and coaching, including Case Keenum, Baker Mayfield, Patrick Mahomes, Johnny Manziel, and Kyler Murray.

Early Life

Kliff Kingsbury was born on 9th August 1979, making him 44 years old as of 2023. Kliff spent his childhood in San Antonio, Texas, with loving and caring parents Tim and Sally. His mother, Sally, died in 2005 because of soft tissue sarcoma.

His father was a purple heart recipient and was the head coach of New Braunfels High School (Texas), where Kliff played football. In the same high school, Kliff played baseball, basketball, and track teams. He graduated with the 3rd class of 450 and was an Academic All-State selection.

In May 2018, he was called to the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame. Kliff received his graduation from Texas Tech University in 2001 from the Rawls College of Business. He had his degree in Bachelor of Business Administration in Management.

Kliff Kingsbury Career

College 

Kliff played for his college from 1998 to 2002 at Texas Tech. He honed his game under the guidance of coach Spike Dykes from 1998–1999 and Mike Leach from 2000–2002. While at Texas Tech, he played 43 games, and after completing his college career, he made 39 school records, 13 Big 12 Conference records, and 7 NCAA FBS records.

Professional 

New England Patriots drafted him in the NFL draft in 2003 in the 6th round. After getting drafted, he played football for various teams such as New England Patriots (2003), and New Orleans Saints from 2004 to 2005, as a practice squad member only. Later he joined New York Jets in 2005 and made his NFL debut on 20th November 2005 against Denver Broncos where he played in the fourth quarter. Eventually playing career came to an end in 2007.  

Coaching Career

In 2008, Kliff became a part of the University of Houston football team, taking on the role of quality control. After receiving recognition, he received multiple NCAA Division I passing records. He was promoted to co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Cougars. In 2011, he received an award as the offensive coordinator of the year after the university-led college football, where they made 50 average points per game and 600 yards of offence.

Rise to Fame

Kliff made the record in 2011, leading Houston with NCAA in yards, and after that, he joined the former Houston head coach, Kevin Sumlin, the offensive coordinator for Texas A&M for the 2012 season. Both gave coaching to Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel.

After that, Kingsbury received the honor of Offensive Coordinator of the Year in 2012 and was named as the finalist for the Broyles Award. Kingsbury returned to Texas Tech, where he had his education as the head coach on 12th December 2012. On 8th January 2019, Kliff became the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.

He won the first game on 8th August 2019, the preseason game, with a total of 17–13 against the Los Angeles Chargers. On 2nd March 2022, he signed a six-year contract with Arizona Cardinals through 2027.

But, after that, he led the team with a record of 4-13, the worst record of the Arizona Cardinals after Kingsbury joined. Eventually, he was fired on 9th January 2023. Kliff Kingsbury joined USC Trojans as Senior Offensive Analyst in April 2023.
