Kevon Looney is a professional basketball player who plays for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Previously, he played college basketball with the UCLA Bruins, where he earned honors like second-team all-conference. After completing the season in college, he decided to appear in the 2015 NBA draft where he was selected with the 30th overall pick by Golden State. He is the recipient of the titles of NBA championships consequently for the seasons 2017 and 2018.

Early Life

Kevon Looney was born on 6th February 1996, making him 26 years old as of 2022. He was brought up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by his loving and caring parents named Doug and Victoria Looney. While growing up, he always watched his older brother Kevin playing pickup games. Just like his older brother who was nearly 6 years older than him, Kevon became a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant. In addition to his older brother, Kevon was brought up along with another sibling said to be an older sister named Summer. He is also connected with his cousin named Nick Young who played with him in the NBA as a teammate during the season 2017-18.

Looney earned the honor of being called the best player in his high school at Alexander Hamilton High in Milwaukee. After completing high school, he was offered by various colleges to pursue his freshman season. He received offers from in-state schools Marquette and Wisconsin. Therefore, he studied at UCLA and had his sophomore season in 2012 where he was named player of the year after he earned an average of points 20.9, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. He was given five-star recruits by Rivals.com, ESPN.com, and Scout.com who all ranked him in the list of top players at no. 10, no. 12, and no.15 respectively.

Kevon Looney Career

Kevon Looney was one of the 19 players who appeared for the draft, where he fell to the final pick of the first round. He was selected as the 30th overall pick by the Golden State of the NBA. After the draft in March during the season, Kevon was set back by his injury and was later set back again for a while because of inflammation in his surgically repaired hip. After becoming healthy, he went back to the field and became a regular rotation player in the season 2017-18. During the season he lost around 14 kg/30 pounds after he hired a personal trainer for his summer exercise session, where he changed his training programs, and adopted a modified Paleo Diet.

For the season 2018-19, Kevon was re-signed by the Warriors and on 28th January he made career-high points- 15, shooting 6-for-7 off the bench and scoring overall 132-100 with a win against Pacers. While going through the year 2019, Kevon re-signed the contract with Warriors with a deal worth around $15 million. He signed the contract during the off-season and immediately after the signing during the summers of that year, he started feeling discomfort in his Hamstring.

During the play, he started feeling discomfort or numbness in his limbs, wrist, feet, hands, etc. He could no longer deal with the situation hampering his health and the games. He was limited to play for just 20 games and during the season he scored an average of 3.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. On 19th May 2020, he underwent surgery to repair his core muscles after which he went back to the field and started playing regular games.
