Karl Glusman is a talented American actor but he is mostly known as the ex-husband of Zoe Kravitz. He is famous for starting in Gasper Noe’s erotic film Love as Murphy and appearing in The Neon Demon and Nocturnal Animals.
Early Life
Karl Glusman was born in the Bronx borough, New York City, United States on January 3, 1988. He was born in a mixed-ethnic family to an Irish mother and a German-Jewish father. Karl has a younger sister named Liz Glusman. His family moved to Portland, Oregon from where he completed his high schooling at Lake Oswego High School and then later attended Portland State University, however, he dropped out a year after. Initially, Karl wanted to run a business but then changed his mind to become an actor, for which he joined Portland Actors Conservatory and then later the William Esper Studio in New York City.

Karl’s professional career in acting began when he played a minor role in the film The Iconographer in 2008. In 2011 he played a recurring role in the mini-television series No.6 as Yoming. He was cast in two short films, Blow-Up and Summer House as Nick and Andrew respectively. Karl also did several shootings for Adidas commercials. For the same, he traveled to France back and forth and met Argentine-French film director Gaspar Noé. Gaspar cast Karl in the main role of Murphy for the erotic drama film Love which was debited at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. The film was quite successful as the premiere made a record for the festival by selling all the seats at the Palais des Festivals et des Congres.
This marked Karl’s career breakthrough. The same year he was also seen in films Ratter as Brent, Joe Altman in the drama film Stonewall, and Embers as Chaos. He also encountered film director Tom Ford at Cannes Film Festival who then cast Karl in his psychological thriller film Nocturnal Animals as Lou in 2016. The same year he was seen playing the role of Dean in The Neon Demon. In 2017 Karl played the role of Sam Duffy in Netflix’s thriller series Gypsy.
Karl then appeared in the horror film Wounds as Jeffrey in 2019. Subsequently, the same year he also appeared in Lux Æterna as Karl and in Above Suspicion as Joe-Bea. The next year he portrayed the role of Sergei in the TV mini-series Devs and alongside Tom Hanks played the role of Eppstein in Greyhound, which is based on the novel The Good Shephard by C.S Forester. Karl is currently shooting his upcoming drama film Please Baby Please which is set to release in 2021. The movie is currently in post-production.

In 2016, the actor began dating American actress and model Zoe Kravitz. Initially, their relationship was private but as they were caught by the media, they finally revealed their relationship. In February 2018, the couple got engaged but this was only revealed by Zoe in an interview held in October. They tied the knot in Paris on June 29, 2019. Unfortunately, on December 23, 2020, Kravitz filed for divorce, the official statement was out on January 2, 2021.
