The whole story
The children’s mother found the dead bodies of her three children inside the bedrooms in the home. According to police Chief Gilbert Rivera, the authorities received a request at 1:40 p.m. local time to check the condition of the home. The request came after the mother was supposed to pick up her children from her “estranged husband”. The name of the mother is Debbie Karels which was revealed after checking her Facebook page, where she shared the pictures of all of her children along with their father Jason. The mother is suspected to be working as a waitress at a local restaurant, according to her Facebook page.
The children were discovered to be dead by the mother in the bedroom. During the discovery of her dead children, she entered the house and saw the dead bodies lying on the floor. She immediately called the police, who found three children deceased and the father Jason missing from the house. Immediately, he was found to be the person of interest by the police and the mother too. The police official said that the mother was coming to pick up her three children from the doctor’s appointment. Immediately after seeing the dead bodies of the children, the police began investigating and looking for Jason Karels.

How was Jason Karels- the murderer was captured?
After the vehicle of Jason Karels was spotted at interstate 57, Karels led the police on a 17-minute high-speed chase which further came to an end when he crashed his car on Interstate 80, west of Chicago. After the crash, Jason was immediately taken into custody. According to the police officials, Rivera, Jason Karels was immediately taken into custody after he was suspected to be responsible for the death of his three children and tried to kill them successfully. Karels was taken to the nearby hospital and it was confirmed that the three children were of Karels.
On the other hand, it was confirmed that the three children died of drowning. According to Rivera, the police have not yet dug into the information about the relationship between the parents and the family’s recent situation. However, it is said that Karels was living at a home on Camden Lane. Also, the blood at the scene was not found to be related to any of the three children. On the other hand, Karels revealed on the body camera that he wanted to hurt himself. For the moment, it is not clear whether Karels was involved in any criminal activities previously or not.
