Jalen Smith is an American Professional Basketball player who is currently playing for Indiana Pacers. He has previously played for Phoenix Suns and recently in 2022 he was traded to the Indiana Pacers. His position is as the Centre/ position forward.  In 2020 he was honored with Third-team All American, First-team All-Big Ten, and Big Ten All-Defensive Team.

Jalen Smith was born on 16th March 2000 in Portsmouth, Virginia, United States. The names of his parents are Charles and Orletha Smith. He has a sister whose name is Kiara Smith. At a young age, he was actively participating in various sports activities. Jalen went to Mount Saint Joseph High School where he completed his high school studies and also played basketball. For his further studies, he went to the University of Maryland. He graduated in 2020 and also played college basketball.

In his high school career as a senior, he averaged 22.2 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per game. On 8th November 2017, he signed a National Letter of Intent with Maryland. His total score as a freshman was 11.7 average, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks. As a sophomore, he averaged 15.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game. He was seen playing matches against Belmont, LSU, Notre Dame, Northwestern, and other teams. In the 2020 NBA draft, he was selected by Phoenix Suns in the 10th pick of the first round. He was later assigned to Agua Caliente Clippers of the NBA G League.

In 2021 he was recalled by the Suns and ended his rookie season by making the NBA Finals. His score was 15.8 averages, 10.2 rebounds, 1.0 block while shooting 55.4% from the field and 85.7% from the free-throw line. On 10th February 2022, he was traded to the Indian Pacers in exchange for Torrey Craig. The next day he made his debut against Cleveland Cavaliers where they lost with 120-113. He also played against Minnesota Timberwolves and Milwaukee Bucks. In a match against Milwaukee, he scored 11 points and 7 rebounds.
