He was drafted by the Washington Nations during MLB June Amateur Draft 2019 in the 39th round from the side of Bixby High School in Bixby, Oklahoma. Jake Bennett went to Bixby High School in Bixby, Oklahoma, where he received his primary education. He was selected in the 39th round of the MLB Draft 2019 by the Washington Nations and was rated as the top player in the list of the left-hand pitchers in Oklahoma by Perfect Games. He remained an all-state selection in 2019 Oklahoma after he had a record-making 1.46 ERA while playing baseball in his high school.

Among the various honors, he has received the honor of being named a three-time Tulsa World All-World honorable mention. While playing as a junior in his high school, he struck out 54 batters in 35.2 innings and made the record of 5-1 with a 2.30 ERA. in the year 2017 while playing as a sophomore, he posted the record-making ERA of 1.70 and while playing as the freshman he went 5-0 while posting the school-record of 0.62 ERA.

Season 2020

Jake earned the title of Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and had three career starts on the mound because of the short season of the COVID-19 pandemic. He went 3-0 with 0.75 ERA and a combined score of a shutout. In his first collegiate start, he struck out with 7 seven batters and had the run for 4 hits with a walk and 4.0 innings while playing against Texas Southern on 19th February. He scored perfect frames with 4.0 and 9 strikeouts while playing against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on 4th March. Next on 10th March, he had the 4.0 pitched scores and went scoreless with three strikeouts, 2 hits, and 2 walks while appearing for the first time at UT Arlington on 10th March 2020.

Season 2021

Jake began with 16 appearances and 13 starts on the mound. He went 4-5 with a 6.34 ERA and had the registry of 60 strikeouts with 13 over 55.1 innings. He struck out 5 and had a total of 7 hits along with 2 runs and 6.0 innings at Baylor on 22nd May. Jake had the toss of 1.2 and went with scoreless frames while playing against Texas Tech on 16th May 2021. While playing against Kansas State on 17th April, he notched 6 strikeouts in 4.1 frames.
