Jahmyr Gibbs is a Georgian personality and an American football running back. He is a member of the Detroit Lions in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for Georgia Tech and spent one year at Alabama. Later in 2023, he was selected by the Lions in the first round of the NFL draft.

As a senior, he made a record for his high school and scored 2,554 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns and was eventually named first-team all-state, the Offensive Player of the Year in the 2020 Georgia 6-A league, and a first-team All-American by Sports Illustrated. In his whole high school career, he made 4,882 rushing yards and 70 touchdowns.

After completing high school, Jahmyr played for Georgia Tech and was offered by various other universities like Michigan, Texas A&M, and North Carolina. During his senior years, he was again rated as a four-star prospect and was ready to be recruited by Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Still, he chose Georgia Tech over others.

Georgia Tech

Jahmyr played the first game against Central Florida. After the game, he was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Freshman of the Week after finishing 219 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. During his time at his college, Georgia Tech, he received the honorable mention of All-ACC as a return specialist.


Jahmyr spent one year with Alabama to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2022. On 1st October, Alabama received a victory over #20 Arkansas. In the following game, they had another victory over Texas A&M. Next, they stood against #6 Tennessee, where they lost by 52–49 and where Jahmyr had 24 carries for 103 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.


The Detroit Lions selected Jahmyr with the 12th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft in the first round. On Monday, 30th October 2023, Detroit Lions over Raiders, where Jahmyr had a broken-out performance.

On Detroit’s initial drive, he recorded a total of eight touches, gaining 35 yards. By the end of the game, he had a total score of 152 rushing yards and a touchdown on 26 carries, plus five catches for 37 yards.
