Career

Pollard was set to transfer to Gauteng in July 2012 in order to begin playing for the Blue Bulls in Pretoria at the beginning of the 2013 season. As the key kicker for the UP Tuks squad during the 2013 Varsity Cup competition, he scored 68 points in his side’s run to the final, giving him the tournament’s second-highest point scorer behind UJ’s Kobus de Kock.
This was his first experience playing rugby in Pretoria. He played a significant role in the competition’s finale as well, scoring 17 points with five conversion kicks and a penalty kick to help UP Tuks win 44–5 and keep the Varsity Cup trophy they had won in 2012.
Handre Pollard was also a member of the Blue Bulls team that competed in the 2013 Vodacom Cup during the Varsity Cup season. On March 9, 2013, he played his first provincial match for the Blue Bulls in Kimberley against Griquas.

In June 2013, Pollard was added to the Blue Bulls Currie Cup squad for the 2013 Currie Cup Premier Division season, having signed a contract extension that would keep him at the club until 2017. On 31 March 2013, Pollard made His Curry Cup debut, starting for the Blue Bulls against the Sharks in Durban.

Leicester Tigers later confirmed the signing of Pollard from Montpellier at the end of the 2021/22 season. Pollard’s debut with the Tigers was on October 1, 2022, taking place after George Ford’s departure to Sale Sharks.
