Early Life

A native of Southlake, Texas, Griffin was born in the 2000s and he is a freshman at LSU. There is no information available regarding his parents or his siblings. Griffin Herring Career

In his lone appearance at the state tournament, Herring went the whole and struck out 13. He faced Keller, a district opponent, in the regional finals and pitched a full-game shutout, allowing only two hits and striking out eight hitters. Herring first pledged his allegiance to LSU in October of 2018, months before he ever threw a varsity pitch, and he maintained that allegiance through a change in coaching staff the following year in 2021.

Herring’s draft stock increased as his strikeout total went up this year. He arranged a session with a few Major League Baseball organizations in advance of the draft, he is ready and eager to pitch for the Tigers anyway. In 2022, he led Southlake Carroll to the state championship with a 13-1 record, 0.24 ERA, 145 strikeouts in 87 innings, and 47.1 consecutive innings without allowing a run.
