Ethan Salas is a 16-year-old catcher from Venezuela’s capital, Caracas. He has been playing baseball in Venezuela’s youth leagues since he was a child and has shown outstanding potential. Salas is regarded as the No. 86 prospect in baseball and the No. 3 prospect in the Padres organization. The Florida-born Venezuelan catcher made his minor league debut at age 16, two days before turning 17 years old.

Salas now holds the title of being the youngest player in minor league baseball and the first person born in 2006 to compete there. He is also the first member of his foreign class to play in the lower leagues since the majority will play in the Dominican Summer League, the Arizona Complex League, or both this year.
