Deleila Piasko is a young and emerging Swiss actress who is going to appear in Netflix’s original Transatlantic this month. Deleila is quite an experienced actress who performed in so many local theatrical productions as well as movies.  

Early Life

Born in Switzerland to a dancer and a physicist, Deleila Piasko spent her childhood in Zurich. On 2nd May 1991, she was born and later pursued her passion for acting by studying at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. She also showcased her talent at the Volksbühne in Berlin during her time there.

Between 2019 and 2022, she held a permanent position as a member of the renowned Burgtheater in Vienna. Alongside her theatrical commitments, she also appeared in several television productions and feature films, playing diverse roles. Her portrayal in Leander Haussmann’s film “LEANDER HAUSSMANNS STASIKOMÖDIE” in 2019 and her role in the German-Austrian Sky series “THE IBIZA AFFAIRE,” directed by Christopher Schier, in 2021 received critical acclaim.

Deleila Piasko departed from the Burgtheater group in 2022 to take on the character of “Lisa Fittko” in TRANSATLANTIC, a seven-episode series developed by Anna Winger and Daniel Hendler. The show will make its debut on Netflix on April 7th. Deleila has also been cast as the lead in DER SCHATTEN, a German television program directed by Nina Vukovic, which is set to be released on ZDFneo during the Spring/Summer of 2023.

Theatre 

After finishing her studies, she became a permanent ensemble member at Konzert Theater Bern until 2017. During her time there, she played various roles, including the lead role of Anne Frank, Josephe in The Earthquake in Chili, directed by Ulrich Rasche, and Julia in Die Vernichtung, a production by Ersan Mondtag and Olga Bach. She also worked at Staatsschauspiel Dresden during the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons, where she played Yerma in Federico García Lorca’s play, the role of Ophelia in Hamlet, and had parts in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Way to Life, and Antigone.

At the beginning of the 2019/20 season, Martin Kušej enlisted Deleila Piasko as a permanent ensemble member in the Burgtheater in Vienna. Her debut came in September 2019 at the Vienna Academy Theater, where she played Wahida in the Austrian premiere of Wajdi Mouawad’s Die Vögel alongside Jan Bülow as Eitan Zimmermann. In September 2020, she played Ismene in the Austrian premiere of Thomas Köck’s Sophocles Recomposition, Antigone, a requiem directed by Lars-Ole Walburg, which premiered at the Academy Theater. In May 2021, she portrayed Elfi Nanzen in the Kasino am Schwarzenbergplatz during the Austrian premiere of Felicia Zeller’s Der Fiskus.

Movies and TV 

The Swiss comedy Cannabis: Trying is about governing by Niklaus Hilber and featured Deleila Piasko as Sabrina in 2006. She played the leading role of Laura Schoch, the sister of the protagonist Mia, in Peter Luisi’s feature film Boys Are Us (2012). In the Lisbon thriller, she portrayed Ines, the daughter of Eduardo Silva, while in the episode Irrlichter (2018) of the ARD crime film series Wolfsland, she appeared as Paula. Deleila appeared in the ARD television film Im Tal des Fuchses, based on Charlotte Link’s work in 2018.

In 2019, she worked with director Leander Haußmann on the final installment of his GDR trilogy, Stasikomödie, following Sonnenallee and NVA. In the film adaptation of Thomas Mann’s novel Confessions of the Conman Felix Krull by Detlev Buck, released in 2021, she portrayed the character Zouzou. Moreover, she was featured in the main cast of the Netflix series Transatlantic as Lisa Fittko, which premiered in April 2023.
