Danielle Galligan is a young Irish actress known for her roles in Shadow and Bones as well as Game of Thrones. She has also been nominated for her works in Pernicio and has also won awards for her role in Strangers in the Park. She has been active as an actress since 2015. 

Early Life

Danielle Galligan was born on December 1, 1992, in Rathfarnham which is a suburb in South Dublin, Ireland. She is the daughter of Lorraine, her mother who works as a beauty therapist and runs a salon and a beauty school named Galligan Beauty. When she was young, she was raised as a Catholic, but now she considers herself an agnostic. Galligan as a student attended the Loreto High School Beaufort.

She was then a member of Ann Kavanagh’s Young People’s Theatre which she joined in 2005 till 2011. Danelle then studies at Trinity College Dublin where she majored in Drama and Theatre Studies. She then started getting training for Acting at The Lir Academy from which she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2015.

Danielle Galligan Career

After Danielle’s graduation in 2015, she started her career in stage productions. She worked in the production of The Trains with Rough Magic Theatre in 2015. She made a workshop alongside Fionnuala Gygax and Ailish Leavy for Hostel 16 at the Druid Theatre. In 2017, she played the titular role in The Grimm Tale of Cinderella. Later in 2018, she played the lead opposite role in The Lyrics. She was also seen as Stash in a short play called Summertime by James Elliott. In 2018, she also co-founded Chaos Factory which is an experimental theatre company alongside Gygax, Venetia Bowe, and Rachel Bergin. They debuted with a production titled Kiss Kiss Slap which was featured at the Dublin Fringe Festival.

In 2019, their second project called the Morpheme premiered in April. They also collaborated with The Corn Exchange at the Mermaids Arts Centre in Bray, Country Wicklow. Danielle made her television debut in 2019 by playing guest roles in the Game of Thornes and Krypton. She got her first lead role in television series called Shadow and Bone which was released on April 23, 2021, on Netflix. Danielle played the role of Nina Zenik in the series which is an adaptation of a fantasy book series The Grisha Trilogy and Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo. She will play the role of Naomi in Lily which would be a movie or a short film, whose date of release has not yet been announced.
