Dalton Bolon is a graduate student of the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. He represents his intercollegiate basketball team Charleston Cougars. The Cougars are currently members of the Colonial Athletic Association and compete in NCAA Division. Dalton is in the final year of his college career and playing his seventh season of college basketball.
Dalton Bolon was born on 24 June 1998 in Gnadenhutten, Ohio. He was born and brought up in his hometown with his brother. His father is Clifford Bolon and his mother is Tamela Bolon. Bolon started playing various sports at a very young age. His first love was football. He started playing basketball in high school Indian Valley High, West Liberty.
He was selected for his school basketball team and played many matches at the state level. By the time he graduated Dalton had played many basketball matches. He was on the All Ohio division II team. When he started first started to play Dalton was 165 pounds so he had to lose weight in order to play in a team. He joined a gym and did everything possible to get on the team.
Dalton Bolon Career
Dalton started his career at Division II West Liberty in 2017. He played on the team for one season and helped the team become the top scorer in D II. Later he was redshirted as a freshman and played four seasons for the Hilltoppers. By the end of four seasons, he got the second position on the school’s career scoring list. In 2019 Dalton got a serious eye injury in the gym.
He had to undergo multiple surgeries and wait for a year for surgeries. Instead of waiting for a year, Dalton played the whole season with an eye patch on. He admitted that at the beginning it was tough to play with an eye patch on his eye but after some time and lots of practice, he got used to it.
Despite the setback, Dalton Bolon made sure to keep up with his game and continued to be a top-scoring player in DII. That season he earned DII All-American honors and was named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America Team for NCAA Division II. He got the honor for two more consecutive years. After the COVID-19 lockdown, he got an extra year to play in NCAA tournaments as a waiver. For that season he decided to upgrade to Division I Charleston as a graduate.
This was supposed to be the last season of his college career but three months into the season he broke his right foot and was granted a medical redshirt for another year. Now it would be his last year playing on his college team. Meanwhile, he completed his master’s degree in Biology in the 2020-21 academic year. So far Dalton has played 155 collegiate games. This year his eligibility to play in the NCAA tournament expires.
