Clarke Gayford was brought up on the farm outside Gisborne. He is the eldest of three children born to his parents. From the age of 11, he was boarded at the Palmerston North Boys’ High School. In 1995, he went to Otago University to study for the degree of Bachelor of Arts before getting transferred to the New Zealand Broadcasting School in Christchurch. Clarke Gayford is the partner of Jacinda Ardern. The couple has been involved in a love affair since 2013. In August 2017, Ardern was elected as the leader of the Labour Party.
