Bridget Brink is an American personality who is working as a diplomat and serving her responsibilities as United States ambassador to Slovakia. On 29th May 2019, she was appointed by then-president Donald Trump to the position of United States ambassador to Slovakia, and later on 20th August 2019, she presented her credentials. Thereafter in April 2022, Bridget was nominated by the president Joe Biden for the position of United States ambassador to Ukraine. Brink is a fluent speaker of five languages including French, Serbian, English, Russian, and Georgian.
Early Life
Bridget was born in 1975 in Michigan to her loving and caring parents named John and Gwen Brink. She completed her primary education at East Grand Rapids High School in 1987. Later, she received her college degree Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Kenyon College. She received her master’s majoring in the subject of international relations and political theory from the London School of Economics.
Bridget Brink Career
Brink began her professional life in 1996 when she first joined the United States Department of State. From 1997 to 1999, she was given the responsibilities of a consular political officer at the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade. Thereafter, she was given the responsibilities of Cyprus desk officer which she served until 2002. She also served as a special assistant for Europe until 2004. From 2005 to 2008, Brink was given the responsibilities of a political-economic chief in Tbilisi. Later, she served many other responsibilities in different professions in the various departments of the U.S government.
She served as the deputy director for southern European affairs, as the director for Aegean and South Caucasus, as the deputy chief of mission at the U.S embassy in Tbilisi in 2011, and deputy chief of mission at the U.S embassy in Tashkent (from 2014 to August 2015). In 2018, Foreign Policy reported that Brink was nominated as the US ambassador to Georgia but the Georgian Dream government rejected the proposal because of Brink at that time’s alleged predisposition towards the former Georgian president and then-the opposition leader Mikheil Saakashvili. In 2019, president Donald Trump nominated Brink to become United States ambassador to Slovakia.

A hearing for the nominations was held before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on 16th May 2019. The committee nominated the names to the Senate Floor on 22nd May 2019 and Brink was confirmed by the entire Senate via voice note on 23rd May 2019. Later, Brink presented her credentials to the president Zuzana Čaputová on 20th August 2019. In February 2022, president Joe Biden nominated Bridget Brink for the position of United States ambassador to Ukraine. On 25th April 2022, Brink was nominated for the position, and later on 26th April 2022, her name was sent to the Senate. But, for now, her name is pending in the Senate before the United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
