In his junior year in 2017, he achieved a 2-6 record with a 5.55 ERA and decided to pursue a professional baseball career. Consequently, the Houston Astros selected him in the 11th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.

Starting his professional journey with the Gulf Coast League Astros, Brandon’s initial performances didn’t stand out significantly. However, he soon showed promise, earning a promotion to the Tri-City ValleyCats after two scoreless appearances.
