Bill Busch was officially announced to be NU’s new special team’s coordinator on 10th January 2022 (Monday). He served to be defense analyst for the Huskers last season. He has also remained Nebraska assistant and special teams coordinator from 2004-2007. Busch possesses more than 30 years of experience in coaching. Bill Busch is a native of Pender, Nebraska was born on 27th April 1965. Busch obtained a bachelor’s degree from Nebraska Wesleyan in 1988. Thereafter, he received his master’s degree from Nebraska-Kearney in 1990. He has remained a graduate assistant for Huskers from 1990 to 1993. Bill was also an assistant coach from 2004 to 2007 working for the secondary and special teams. He has been helping Nebraska to three consecutive Big Eight titles. Bill played as a wide receiver at Nebraska Wesleyan from 1985 to 1987. He also served as a graduate assistant there at the university in 1989.

Busch possesses a significant career timeline while working with Nebraska. He served as a defense analyst in 2021, helping Huskers to achieve the best defensive skills in recent years. Previous to this, she served to be an assistant coach at Nebraska from 2004 to 2007. In the first season, he served as the coach of the outside linebackers and served as special teams coordinator. Later, he continued to handle special teams’ duties in 2005-07. During his tenure, Nebraska stood in the top 25 nationally in net punting. From 1990-1993, he served to be the graduate assistant coach with Huskers.

Between his time working under the guidance of former NU coach Bill Callahan and later returning to Lincoln in 2021, Busch coached teams at the Universities like LSU (2018-20), Rutgers (2016-17), Ohio State (2015), Wisconsin (2013-14), and Utah State (2009-12).
Busch started his coaching career earlier in 1989 while being an assistant coach for Nebraska Wesleyan. From being assistant coach, he made progress and was promoted to co-defensive coordinator, special team coordinator, defensive coordinator, special team coordinator, defensive back, defensive quality control, defensive analyst, and finally as Special Teams Coordinator with Nebraska.
