Austin Eckroat Biography

Austin Eckroat is an Edmond-born personality and an established golf player. He has won one PGA Tour and finished no.3 in the inaugural class of 2021. By falling short by just one stroke in the final game of the 2021 Korn Ferry Tour, he lost the opportunity for eight assured starts on the tour. As a result, he only managed to secure tickets for the first two out of twelve events in the 2022 KFT season.

His failure on both stages forced him to work diligently to improve his ranking. He faced numerous challenges in his quest to climb up the ranks. He participated in the AdventHealth Championship and started with three out of the top 25 finishes. This start helped him to jumpstart his career and earn one of the 25 PGA Tour cards available via the Finals.

Early Life

Austin Eckroat was born on 12th January 1999 in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was brought up by his loving and caring parents, Steve and Natalie Eckroat. He shared his childhood with one sister Talor who went to OSU University for her education. After completing his education at North High School, he was offered to be recruited by Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and SMU.

Amateur 

Austin played for the fourth time at the U.S. Amateur in 2020. While appearing for the 2020 Southern Amateur Championship, he had the sixth position. Next, he appeared in the 2019 U.S Open Championship at Pebble Beach but missed the cut after appearing for the carding rounds of 72 and 75. In 2019, he held membership in the 2019 U.S. Palmer Cup squad.

He appeared in the 2019 Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championship and eventually earned the 10th position with a tie. Austin went on to play at the Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship for the second year in a row and became the runner-up for the 2019 season. He was the claimed medalist honors at the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship for the 2017 season.

2018 to 2020 with Cowboys

He remained a medalist after posting rounds of 68, 70, and 64 for the season 2017 to 2018. He appeared for the Amer Ari Invitational and had the 32nd position finishing with a tie. Next, he had the career-first victory at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. For the season 2017 to 2018, he had the honorable mention of All-America recognition from the Golf Coaches Association of America.

For the season 2018 to 2019, he earned the title of third-team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America. He was highlighted by the Golfweek magazine and was recognized as the overall second-team pick. Austin appeared in the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate competition and finished in the seventh position. He scored 71 in fourth place at the East Lake Cup. After that, he appeared for The Prestige and came in third place.

From 2019 to 2020, Golfweek magazine announced him as the second-team pick. He had appraisals from all-region including GCAA Tournament. He was honored as the second-team Academic All-Big 12 selection. The Golf Coaches Association of America also recognized him as the second-team All-American.

    A Sober Golfer, Bouncer and other Humble Golfers have Won and I find it inspirational.
    I finished as #3 Alternate at 16yrs. playing The Ocean Course at Olympic Club on a windy rainy day. My Best Round to this day.
    It was 1966 the last year Johnny Miller played the Junior Circuit here in San Francisco. But it was Hippies, Tune In Turn Out and Rock and Roll here, and I gave up Golf for The Hippie Movement, which was not all bad. But a decision I now regret.
