Ashley Rogers the ace for the Tennessee Lady Volunteers Softball team would be a star in the future. After suffering several injuries in the past, she is enjoying probably the best season of her collegiate career in NCAA tenure. 

She also got the Crawford Accent’ on Excellence Women’s Softball Endowed Scholarship. She was No. 12 on FloSoftball’s Hot 100 2018 Recruiting Class after her time at Meigs County High School in Decatur, Tennessee.

Early Life

A native of Athens, Tennessee, Ashley Rogers was born on the 13th of April 2000. She is the daughter of Loring and Lynda Rogers. Her father lost his life due to a heart attack which was the hardest thing to deal with for her. Rogers went to Fairview High School and she started playing softball. 

During high school, her career is highlighted by her extraordinary ability to strike out batters. Throughout her high school journey, she recorded a staggering 1401 career strikeouts, cementing her status as one of the most dominant pitchers in her school’s history. Her single-season strikeout record of 441 in 2017 is a testament to her unrivaled talent and determination.

Ashley Rogers earned run average as a freshman was seventh in the SEC, and her 4.98 strikeout-to-walk ratio was fifth in the conference and 32nd in the country. She had 209 punchouts, good for second in the league, and an 8.4 K/9, good for third in the league and 32nd in the country.

Ashley had a 21-7 win-loss record in 39 appearances, 15 of which were complete games, and concluded the season ranked third in the SEC and 41st in the NCAA in victories (21). She suffered an injury in her sophomore year, in 2020, and was forced to sit out.

Ashley led the Lady Vols in 2022 with a 2.01 ERA, four shutouts, and three saves in 104.1 innings pitched, in which she had 25 appearances (15 starts). She shut out the Oregon State Beavers (5/21) in the NCAA Knoxville Regional, striking out eight, walking none, and allowing only two hits on her way to a 12-6 record and a seventh-place finish in Tennessee softball history.

Rogers received the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and pitched the first four innings of Tennessee’s World Series opener (6/1) against Alabama and earned the win. She struck out eight Texans in a full-game victory on 5/26 and three Gamecocks in a save opportunity in the SEC Tournament Championship game on 5/13. Her team won 3-1.
