Andrew Warren Career
In November 2016, Andrew Warren was chosen by the Democrats as the state attorney for Florida’s 13th Judicial Circuit in Hillsborough County. Rose to Fame
Andrew Warren was a relatively anonymous Democratic attorney before the election night of 2016, when he suddenly gathered around 5,000 more votes than his opposition Mark Ober, the Republican incumbent, in the race for the 13th Judicial Circuit in Hillsborough County. During that time, Warren’s winning was called a “stunning election-night upset” by The Times. Warren, who is now a former federal prosecutor, ran an aggressive campaign and often used to attack his opponents for alleged absenteeism and a lack of sensitivity toward crime victims. The attack was made against the opponent of the 2016 elections where he targeted the republican Ober. However, Ober later said that both the characteristics describing his intention in politics were misleading.
Removal/Suspension from the position
Governor Ron DeSantis shocked Tampa Bay on Thursday (4th August 2022) when he suspended the prosecutor Andrew Warren from his office and current position in the 13th Judicial Circuit or as the state attorney for Hillsborough County. DeSantis explained that Warren has put himself “above the law” by promising not to enforce the law and still calls himself the rising star of the progressive law enforcement circle. This decision of governor DeSantis came after the steps Andrew Warren made in the wake of limiting abortion and the ability of children to seek gender dysphoria treatments. The governor used a suspension clause under the Florida Constitution law which states that he had the right to directly fire the prosecutor as needed.
During his speech regarding the removal of the prosecutor Andrew Warren, DeSantis was asked whether it was right to remove the elected authority from his position. At that time DeSanbtis alluded that Warren’s campaign is well supported by a wealthy progressive system and he will surely make a criminal justice system. DeSantis said that he is being supported by the money that is coming from the people who do not live in Florida and they are really trying to push the agenda on the people of Florida. It is also stated that the prosecutor Warren received tens of millions of dollars in campaign distribution from out-of-the-state billionaires. The rumors for this kind of support are claimed to date back to the time of the elections in 2016.
