Alvaro Antonio Garcia Perez is professionally known as Álvaro Morte. He is a Spanish actor who gained fame worldwide after he played the role of Sergio Marquina, also known as ‘the professor’ or ‘El Professor’ in Spanish in the Spanish streaming series called the Money Heist which was aired originally on Antena 3 and Netflix.
Early life
Alvaro was born in Algeciras, Cadiz, in Spain on February 23rd, 1975. Soon after he was born, his family relocated to the city of Bujalance in Cordoba. Alvaro originally got enrolled into a degree of communication engineering but he later switched to dramatic arts and graduated from the Escuela Superior de Arte Dramatico de Cordoba in the year 1999. He later went to the University of Tampere for a post-graduate degree.

Alvaro began his career with a minor role in the Spanish television series Hospital Central. He got his first main role in the television series Planta 25 which was aired from 2005 to 2008. He also played Adolfo Castillo in the Spanish television series Bandolera and Gabriel Areta in the soap opera Amar en tiempos revueltos. In the year 2007, Alvaro did a minor role in the film Lola, la Pelicula in which he played a bullfighter and lover of the protagonist. Alvaro joined the cast of El secreto de Puente Viejo which is a long running telenovela in the year 2014. After his exit from Puente Viejo in the year 2017, Morte played the role of The Professor in the famous television series called Money Heist.
He played the role of a meticulous criminal mastermind behind the scenes of the heist plot and received heavy praise for the same. The series has in total 4 parts which are all available on Netflix. Alvaro also starred in the 2019 television series on Movistar+ called El embarcadero. In December of 2019, he announced that he had joined the cast of the Amazon television series called The Wheel of Time in which he plays Logain.
