Alicia Myers was born on the 20th of November, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, United States. Her parents are Lawrence Myers and Margaret Myers. According to the reports, Alicia has eight siblings. Her elder brother, Jackie Myers is also a musician. Alicia graduated from Lee University, a private Christian University in Cleveland, Tennessee, U.S. The two siblings, Alicia and Jackie were very fond of music since childhood. In April 1968, the duo took part and contended in a local talent competition, held at Detroit’s Martin Luther King Jr. High School, where they sang a single named “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing”, originally released by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.
The siblings’ team won first place which encouraged them to become a musician. In 1998, Myers was diagnosed with breast cancer but fortunately, she survived. She is a survivor of childhood tuberculosis as well. Looking at the above situations that came into her life, it can be predicted that Alicia is the bravest of all of her siblings as she has defeated all of her diseases.

Myers began her music career by departing from her hometown, Detroit to Los Angeles, California in 1978. She started off her career in 1979 with the band Al Hudson & the Soul Partners by releasing the album “Happy Feet” as “Al Hudson and the Partners”; this record consists of the R&B hit, co-penned by Myers, where she has been featured on lead vocals named “You Can Do It”, which went viral and was a big disco hit. Consequently, the group swapped their name to “One Way featuring Al Hudson” and later, “One Way”. In 1981, with the release of the album “Alicia” by MCA Records, Myers began her solo music recording career.
Fortunately, her album attained a Billboard magazine R&B Albums chart peak of No. 41, and two of her successful hits namely, “I Want To Thank You”, released in September 1982, and “Don’t Stop What You’re Doin’”, released in May 1981 were featured. Later, in the same year, her follow-up album titled “Alicia Again” was released but failed to chart, unfortunately. In the year 1982, another album entitled”I Fooled You This Time” by MCA Records was released, which reached number 27 on the R&B Album Chart. After two years, in 1984, her another highest-charting album titled “I Appreciate” was released. This album reached number 12 on the R&B chart. In the following year, she did a single “Just Can’t Stay Away” in March 1985. Myers made a comeback in 2011 with her new album, named “Peace of Mind” by Love Town Music.
