Alexandra Patricia Morgan was born on 2nd July 1989 in San Dimas, California, United States. Her parents are Michael T. Morgan and Pamela S. and raised along with her elder sisters, Jeni and Jeri in the city of Dimond Bars. As a toddler, she always showed interest in physical activities and sports. She considered her father as her inspiration, as he used to coach and train her. In her leisure, Alex likes to do yoga, spend time with her dog, and hanging out with family and friends. At the age of 14, the athlete attended ‘Dimond High School’ in Dimond Bar, California, where she was praised for displaying her potential in speed and sprinting. There she named many achievements and accomplishments. Later, she enrolled in ‘University of California’ in Berkeley, for her higher education and finished with a graduation degree in Political Economy.

Alexandra Morgan, a leading sports personality achieved success even while facing a lot of struggles and failures throughout her career. She grew up playing soccer at an early age with AYSO. At the age of 14, she joined the club called Cypress Elite and initiated her professional soccer journey. She went on to win U16 Championship and secured 3rd position at the U19 level while playing for the club. In 2017, she got was offered to play for the United States Women’s national soccer team under-20. While playing for the team, she suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and was unable to play in April 2008. While playing collegiate soccer, she joined California Golden Bears in 2007. In the 2nd round of the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship, she turned her loss into a draw while scoring an equalizer prior to 2 minutes left in regulation time.

She ended her collegiate career while scoring 106 points for Cal. Alex made her international debut in the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s Championship in Puebla, Mexico under 20. In 2011, Alex became the first overall pick by the Western New York Flash in the 2011 WPS Draft. Moreover, in 2012, she became part of Seattle Sounders Women. In 2013, she was one of the three national team players to join the Portland Thorns FC for the inaugural season of the National Women’s Soccer League. She had to leave thorns in 2015 and was traded to an expansion team Orlando Pride in 2016. In January 2017, she signed with French Champions Olympique Lyonnais. In 2020, Morgan joined the English FA Women’s Super League team named Tottenham Hotspur. For the 2021 season, she returned to Orlando Pride.


In 2016, Alex was involved in a controversy, where she alleged and complained about the wage discrimination against US Soccer, along with her teammates, citing inequalities between its compensation for players on the women’s and men’s national teams. The matter got stretched and in 2019, Alex along with her teammates filed a lawsuit against US Soccer. In October 2017, she got kicked out of a Disney World Park in Florida for her improper behavior. For which, she had to apologize for yelling, screaming, and taking videos and pictures. Later, she got alleged and came under fire for sipping tea after the goal against England on 2nd July 2019, and stated that the gesture was partly in honor of British ‘Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner.
