Early Life
Ruben Roldan Bustos was born in Spain, in the seaside city of Rincón de la Victoria, province of Málaga. Although it was never officially disclosed that day, he was said to be born on that same day when he appeared on America’s Got Talent at age 23. When Rubén was 9 years old, his life took a radical turn around a serious farming accident that occurred while he was working on his family’s farm.
A small motorized farm machine injured his left leg. Although the leg had been operated on many times to save the leg, the doctors eventually had to do an above-knee amputation. The accident was a physical and emotional loss and tragedy, but it didn’t define Rubén’s future.
A few years later a friend introduced him to an activity that is all about running, jumping, climbing and acrobatic movements around obstacles: parkour. He immediately loved it and thought that it saved his life, helped him to become more confident and more purposeful, and gave him a new sense of what he can do.
He practiced day in and day out and eventually became one of the world’s greatest adaptive parkour athletes, using more and more moves on one foot. But because he was so determined, he eventually got to the limelight, beyond the world of sports.
Career
Ruben Roldan Bustos’s career in athletic endeavors has been founded on breaking barriers in adaptive sports. He has worked hard over the years to master all the flips, vaults, wall runs, precision jumps and everything else that’s technically challenging and he hasn’t relied on a prosthesis to do so during competition.
Ruben Roldan Bustos has been honored with Guinness World Records, having several records in the lower-limb impairment (LA1) category. His accomplishments include the longest parkour dash jump in the world, the longest vertical jump run, and the highest running jump onto a platform. These accomplishments put him among the world’s top adaptive parkour players.
Rubén has competed in several European television talent shows and eventually made his mark in the United States, bringing adaptive parkour to a wider audience. It wasn’t until 2026 that he got his big break when he auditioned for Season 21 of America’s Got Talent. With a prosthetic leg, Rubén threw it to the ground, shocking the judges and the audience, before performing a series of incredible jumps, flips, vaults and exact jumps with one leg.
Judge Simon Cowell was definitely impressed with not only Rubén’s bravery but his talent as well and awarded him his Golden Buzzer, which put him straight to the live shows! The performance was a hit and was seen by many as one of the most-anticipated auditions of the year, live and in front of the media across the world.
