Caleb Kennedy is a 16-year-old singer, songwriter, and musician from Spartanburg, South Carolina. He got a golden ticket to appear on the big stage of the American Idol 2021. Caleb is someone who performs at a lot of gigs around his hometown with his band and during one of those nights, he chose to sing one of his originals, ‘that’s my papa’ and ‘nowhere’. He said that ‘Nowhere’ is what got him to where he is now. Whenever he writes songs, he wants to make somebody feel something. He doesn’t want to talk about drinking beer around bonfires but wants his music to tell a story. Apart from being a singer, Caleb is also a songwriter and writes songs every day. He also said that he is more of a songwriter than a singer. For the auditions, he sang his original song titled ‘nowhere’.
He had only written the first verse of the song but the judges were really impressed with his performance. Luke Bryan and Katy Perry were happy to help him get a breakthrough for the next verse saying, “You’d better finish that song because that song’s gonna take you somewhere. You’ve got something really special”. Despite being the youngest contestant on the show, Caleb has got an enormous amount of singing skill and talent. After reaching into the Top 24 list with his own rendition of “Midnight Rider” last week, Caleb was tasked to sing with the incredible Jason Aldean. They both performed “Fly Over States” and got a standing ovation at the end.

Caleb, I stopped watching A.I. after you dropped out. That video of you with another child pal wearing a KKK looking mask, was a really rotten thing for someone to post. Gezz, kids do goofy things, and playing around with another child, wearing a KKK looking hood, should have not been any reason for you to have had to leave that show. I wish that pal had come forward and told the press that “we were just a couple of 12 year olds being goofy”. My goodness, you were not even a teenager when that was done! Unless your family are card holder KKK members, you should NOT have had to drop off that show, however maybe it was a wise thing to do at this time of elevated social sensitivity. I think that you did get enough screen time to show that you are loaded with talent. You seem very mature for a 16 year old, and you will do well in the music profession if you choose to continue that in your adult life, which realistically does not begin until you are 21 – 5 years from now. So keep doing what you are doing, Finish High School, Keep your reputation clean by making honorable behavior choices, be kind, have courage, and as you have been doing, continue to direct your efforts toward your dreams and you will attain success.
