Early Life
Josh Pearson was born on September 24, 2002, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Bill and Anna Pearson. His father worked as a fireman and coached baseball before retiring. Josh is the fourth child out of a total of five in the family. His sibling, Jacob, was picked by the Los Angeles Angels in the third round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft.
Before enrolling at LSU, he was a 2021 First Team All-State and All-Parish selection after a.430 batting average in his senior year at West Monroe High. As a freshman in high school, he hit.420 and hit eight home runs. He was a key member of the West Monroe High School football squad as a running back.
The 2019 USA Baseball 17U National Team Development Program included him as a participant. While playing with the Sanford (Florida) River Rats, he won the 2021 Florida Collegiate League Most Valuable Player award.
He played in 28 games for Sanford and had 31 hits, 30 runs, 10 doubles, 4 home runs, and 23 steals (.333 batting average). He won the 2021 Florida Collegiate League Home Run Derby and set league records for stolen bases, doubles, and extra-base hits.

As a freshman in 2022, Josh Pearson played in 51 games for the Tigers and had a huge impact. He started 27 games in right field and eight games in left field while hitting.299 (44-for-147) with 9 2B, 8 HR, 35 RBI, and 34 runs scored. With runners in scoring position, he hit.459 (17-for-37) to lead LSU.

Pearson made history on May 26 against Kentucky by going 5-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI, and three runs to lead LSU to its first-ever five-hit performance in an SEC Tournament game. In LSU’s series win over Alabama (May 6-8), he hit.385 (5-for-13) with a double and two runs scored. He hit two home runs and drove in five runs in a victory over Nicholls on May 3.
This was his second two-homer game of the season. On April 11, he was selected SEC Co-Freshman of the Week after leading LSU to a series sweep over Mississippi State (April 8-10), batting.455 (5-for-11) in three games with two homers, six RBI, and two runs scored. Pearson went 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBI as LSU swept Mississippi State for the first time since May 2017.
