Olivia Wilde, née Olivia Jane Cockburn is a renowned American actress as well as filmmaker. She is illustrious for her roles in various films such as Remy “Thirteen” Hadley on a medical drama television series “House” from 2007-12.
Early Life
Olivia Wilde was born on 10th March 1984 in New York City, United States but raised in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Her father, Andrew Cockburn is a journalist who was born in London but grew up in Ireland. Her mother, Leslie Cockburn is a 60 Minutes producer and a journalist and is American-born. She has two siblings, a five years older sister, Chloe Frances Cockburn, and nine years younger brother, Charlie Philip Cockburn.
During her early years, she studied at a private school named Georgetown Day School in Washington, D.C., and in 2002 she graduated from boarding school at Philips Academy, in Andover, Massachusetts, U.S. Olivia had to cancel her admission three times at Bard College in order to pursue her dream in acting. Later, she enrolled at Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin.

Olivia Wilde made her debut in the film industry in 2003 by appearing as “Jewel Goldman” in the television series “Skin”. She then became well-known in 2004 after her recurring role as Alex Kelly on the drama series “The O.C.” Olivia did various films in consecutive years such as in 2004, she did “The Girl Next Door”, ”Conversations with Other Women” in 2005, “Bickford Shmeckler’s Cool Ideas”, “Alpha Dog” and “Turistas” in 2006. Later, she starred in the off-Broadway theatre production of Beauty on the Vine. She was also cast in the films “The Death and Life of Bobby Z” and “The Black Donnellys” in 2007. She appeared on a medical drama television series “House” as Remy “Thirteen” Hadley in September 2007.
In 2009, she characterized Princess Inanna in the film “Year One” and as Quorra in Disney’s Tron: Legacy in 2010. She also served as executive producer on several documentary short films, namely Sun City Picture House in 2010 being inspired by her award-winning journalist and documentary filmmaker parents. In 2011, she joined the cast of “Cowboys & Aliens” as Ella Swensen. She acted as a screenwriter and director for the film “Free Hugs” which was screened at several festivals. In 2012, she starred in various films such as “Third Person”, “People Like Us”, “The Words” and “Deadfall”. She also returned for the series finale of “House” as Remy in two episodes “Holding On” and “Everybody Dies”. In 2018, she was cast in “A Vigilante” and in 2019, she made her directorial debut with “Booksmart”, a high school comedy film.

In 2006, she won “The Comedy Festival” award in the category of Best Actress for her work in “Bickford Shmeckler’s Cool Ideas”. She won two awards namely, “Teen Choice Awards” and “Vail Film Festival” for Choice TV Breakout Star Female and Rising Star Award respectively in 2008. In 2020, she earned the “Independent Spirit Awards” for the category Best First Feature for her work in “Booksmart”.

In November 2011 Olivia started dating Jason Sudeikis, an actor, comedian, and screenwriter. They have two children namely, Otis, a son born in 2014, and Daisy, a daughter born in 2016.
