Valeri Nichushkin is a Russian-born American personality and is famously known for playing ice hockey by profession. He is a professional ice hockey right winger and is currently committed to the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted in the 2013 NHL Draft and was selected by the Dallas Stars in the first round as the 10th overall pick.

Valeri spent one season with the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) and then saw his transfer from Traktor Chelyabinsk to Dynamo Moscow on 1st May 2013. He worked under a two-year contract with Dynamo, however, the deal was unconditionally terminated making Valeri work with NHL and allowing him to return if in case he failed to connect or make his NHL team.

With Dallas Stars, Nichushkin had the regular first season NHL game on 3rd October 2013 when his team stood against Florida Panthers. He had the first career NHL goal on 3rd November 2013 while staging against Craig Anderson of the Ottawa Senators. Valeri saw a regular and solid rookie season with 14 goals and 20 assists and after the record, he had to go through hip and groin soreness at the beginning of his sophomore campaign from 2014 to 2015. He was rehabbed in New Jersey and later had his comeback to the team in March 2015 and started practicing with a red no-contact jersey. After going through a disappointing campaign and failing to score within 57 games, Valeri was placed on unconditional waivers and was subsequently terminated with his remaining term in the contract with the Stars on 30th June 2019.
Colorado Avalanche signed him in 2019 and scored his first goal after 2 years on 23rd November 2019. During his first season with Avalanche, he received high praise from the analytics community for his high ranking and good background in metric details, especially in defensive metrics. He finished the season 2019 to 2020 with overall 13 goals and 27 points, and eventually, the season became the second most productive season of his overall games played in his career. He became a strong defensive player and eventually led his team to vote for the Frank J. Selke Trophy and he finally received the trophy that is especially given to the best defensive forward in the NHL after he finished 8th in the voting.
