Russell Henley Biography

Russell Henley is recognized as an American golfer, who rose to fame within a short span of time. Russell did really well in the initial stage of the 2021 opening stage but he made some mistakes in the end. He missed the playoff as he missed a bogey in his last hole and he ended his season with frustration.

Although, he’s got a dream start this year as he kicked off with 62 and later finished the second round with two consecutive birdies. He won the 2022 World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba by four shots. He had a winning score of 261 (63-63-65-70). Recently, he has been a leading player in the Wyndham Championship 2023.

Early Life

Russell Henley entered the world on April 12, 1989, in Macon, Georgia. His parents are Dr Chapin Henley (Father) and Sally Henley(Mother). He finished his education at Stratford Academy in Macon. Later, he enrolled at the University of Georgia in Athens. Also, he played college golf for four years. 

Russell Henley Career

Russell Henley began his career as a golf player. In 2010, he participated in both the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational and the Stadion Athens Classic at UGA. Russell turned professional golfer in 2011 and represented the United States team in the golfing community.

PGA Tour

He officially joined the tour in 2013. On 13th Jan. 2013, he won the Sony Open in Hawaii tournament in Florida. He had a winning score of 256 and 3 strokes. On 2nd Mar. 2014, he won The Honda Classic tournament and scored 272 (64-68-68-72). He won Shell Houston Open on 2nd Apr. 2017. He had a winning score of 268 (67-67-69-65) and three strokes.

As an amateur, he played for Stadion Classic at UGA and had a winning score of 272 (72-66-66-68) on 8th May 2011. He played in the Chiquita Classic on 30th Sept. 2012. He had a winning score of 266 (66-65-65-70). He played for Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open and had a winning score of 270 (66-70-69-65) on 21st Oct. 2012. Later, he graduated from the Web.com Tour in 2012.

Humanitarian work

Russell Henley is actively involved in charitable initiatives, giving back to the community. He supports and funds various causes in his hometown, making him a beloved figure in the world. Russell created the Kevin Brown Celebrity Classic Golf Tournament with the purpose of supporting the Macon Rescue Mission and FCA, which provides healthcare services. He also found CHAPIN HENLEY M.D. SCHOLARSHIP FUND in honor of his father, Dr Chapin Henley.

Russell Henley is a married man. He wedded his loving wife, Teil Duncan, in 2015. She is a professional painter. She is based in Charleston, South Carolina, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in art from Auburn University. It was in 2014 when the couple became engaged for the first time, and the special moment took place at Pitt Street Bridge in Mount Pleasant. The couple has two children named Robert Russell and Ruth Teil. Their third girl child is named Jane Edith. The couple currently lives cheerfully with children and friends in South Carolina.
