Rylan started his career in basketball. At Richardson High School, he played as a junior (2020-2021) or senior (2021-2022), under head coach: Kevin Lawson. As a junior, he averaged 22 points, 4.9 rebounds, and four assists per game. As a senior, he had 20.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals.
He also attended the Pangos All-American Camp in the summer of 2021. He was a four-star recruit Shooting Guard and the No. 49 overall player in the 2022 class. In November 2021, he committed to play for Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball, representing the University of Alabama. He was a selected player for NCAA Division I men’s basketball.
