Following his transition to professional golf in July 2012, Ben Kohles secured victory in his debut event on the Web.com Tour, the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational.
He stood against Luke Guthrie and won the competition with a birdie at the first extra hole, taking the victory over Luke Guthrie. In this competition, he was invited because of his status as an All-American and other titles that Ben won in college. He became the first player to win the Web.com Tour debut after 2007 and was counted among the thirteen overall winners to do the same. He had no prior professional experience before this.
He then participated in the Cox Classic the following week. He had the overall score in the final round of 62, and he took the title by three shots. He played in the two tournaments and became the first player to win both tournaments in history after turning professional.

During the competition, Stanger was two shots behind Ben and stayed close to Brice Garnett (68) and Matti Schmid (68).
