As a junior at East Coweta High School, Katie excelled academically and athletically, earning recognition as a first-team all-region and all-county selection in the autumn of 2019. She played travel baseball for the East Cobb Bullets, where she hit the game-winning home run in the 2019 Triple Crown/USA National Championship game. She also helped her high school gain a No. 1 national ranking from MaxPreps in 2017 and 2018.

In 2018, as a sophomore, Katie was the most valuable player for the junior varsity. Tennessee’s go-to pinch runner her freshman year saw action in 48 games for the Lady Vols, contributing 19 runs and seven stolen bases for the Big Orange. She knocked in the game’s first run in a 5-2 victory for UT over then-ranked No. 16 Auburn on 5/7.

During a pinch-running stint, he scored four consecutive times: against UNC Greensboro (4/23), East Carolina (4/24), Liberty (4/27), and Ole Miss (5/1).
