Teri Moren became the head coach of the women’s basketball team at Indiana University. Before that, Moren played college basketball at Purdue and went on to serve as head coach at Indianapolis from 2000 to 2007, as well as at Indiana State from 2010 to 2014.

Teri Moren, born in April 1969 to parents Barbara and Dick Moren, was raised in Seymour, Indiana alongside her sister Lee Lee. Her upbringing was marked by a strong emphasis on diligence and a winning mentality, which laid the groundwork for her successful career and achievements.
Teri Moren’s family resided in Seymour for an extended period before eventually moving to Bloomington. In 2014, Teri Moren herself migrated to the city, and shortly after being appointed as the head coach of the Hoosiers in August of that year, she gathered her belongings and made the move to Indiana University in Bloomington.
Starting out as an amateur basketball player at Seymour High School, Moren began her career in a modest way. However, her offensive playing style quickly gained attention and she achieved great success, being honored with the Indiana All-Star and the Female Athlete of the Year awards in 1987.
Donna Sullivan, a Hall of Fame coach in Indiana, coached Moren when she played high school basketball at Seymour High School. Seymour High School has the nation’s 2nd largest high school gym.
Career
Coach Lin Dunn, now the Indiana Fever’s general manager, and assistant Gail Goestenkors, who went on to coach Duke to four Final Four appearances, coached Moren during her collegiate basketball career at Purdue Boilermakers.
By Moren’s junior year, which was the 1990-91 season, she started consistently and helped the Boilermakers finish 26-3 overall and first in the Big Ten. This achievement also marked the school’s first Big Ten championship, and they reached the NCAA second round.
Coaching Career
University of Indianapolis
Moren initiated her head coaching profession for the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds in Division II in 2000-01. Indianapolis retained her for seven seasons. During her third year in the 2002-03 season, the Greyhounds achieved an overall score of 29-3, topped the chart with 18-2, and reached the NCAA DII Second Round. By the end of her final season in 2006-07 with Indianapolis, Moren maintained an overall score of 130-73 (.640) and a conference record of 80-58 (.580).
Indiana State University
During her four-year coaching tenure at Indiana State Sycamores, Moren achieved various accomplishments such as winning a conference championship in 2013-14, leading the team to two postseason appearances in the WNIT, and helping six players earn All-MVC honors. In her first year as a coach during the 2010-11 season, Moren set a record by winning the most games (16) as a first-year coach in the history of Sycamore.
Indiana University Hoosiers
On August 9, 2014, Fred Glass, the Indiana Director of Athletics, announced Moren as the head coach of the Indiana women’s basketball program. In the 2014-15 season, Moren led the Hoosiers, and they made 236 three-point field goals, which was the second-best total in school history at that time.
During Moren’s eighth year, which was the 2021-22 season, the Hoosiers achieved an overall record of 24-9 and a Big Ten record of 11-5. All-Big Ten honors were awarded to all five starters in the annual postseason awards, with Grace Berger being named to the All-Big Ten first team.
Throughout the season, the Hoosiers remained ranked within the top 15, with a peak ranking of No. 4 in the Associated Press and No. 5 in the coaches poll.
