Erica Hernandez is an American actress, writer, and comedian. Born and brought up in Texas, Erica has mixed German and Colombian roots. Her most recent work is a supporting role in the CBS series True Lies which is a spin-off of the 1994 movie of the same name. She has also appeared in many shows and movies such as Bridge and Tunnel, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and Brittany Runs a Marathon. Currently based in New York City she also ran in the NYC marathon in 2015.
Early Life
Erica was born in 1991 in and spent her childhood in Texas with her family before moving to New York to pursue her education. Growing up as a girl with Mixed Colombian and German ethnicity in America she used to listen to Shakira and follow German habits of eating liverwurst sandwiches. The actress is fluent in German, Spanish, and English. Erica is now a comedic improviser, as well as a theatrically trained actor. She received her BA in theatre performance and Spanish language and literature from Fordham University, NYC.
Erica received National Hispanic Merit Scholarship 2008, a full academic scholarship at Fordham. Erica didn’t stop there and went on studying sketch writing and advanced improvisational comedy. She took training in improvisational comedy at Upright citizen’s brigade training centre under the guidance of Scott Jones, Brandon Gardner, and many other professors. In addition, Erica also took Voice training. She also studied in Mexico City, Mexico to focus more on the Spanish language and literature.

After completing her training Erica started working as an actress and performer on many comedy shows. She made her debut in the year 2011. Her first movie was I’m Only Sleeping. Her most famous appearance is in Bridge and Tunnel as Genie Farrell. The actress has been a guest star in many shows such as Last week tonight with John Oliver, Muderville, and The Brave. She also appeared as a series correspondent for the CBS show Mission Unstoppable.
Apart from television shows, Erica has also performed in the theater. She portrayed the role of “Eva” in the Irish Repertory Theatre’s world premiere of Made by God. Further, she got the opportunity to play the lead role in the movie Hollywood Fringe and Going under. She also played a supporting role in films such as when Brittany runs a marathon and Lazy Susan.
As a comedian, she has performed in many comedy shows in the Upright citizen’s brigade theatre. She was a house sketch comedy performer for years with her team where she bagged 2nd place in NBC/UCB Diversity Showcase. She also did the voice-over for the character “Erica” in The Truth Podcast’s critically acclaimed 4 part series The Off Season opposite Peter Grosz. In addition to acting she has also worked as a model for various brands and appeared in many commercials.
