He was merely 18 when he got selected in the Navy SEAL.

Derrick began his career at the age of 18 while being selected by the Navy SEAL in America. He began with the position in September 1988 and developed a career of at least 26 years. He retired from the Navy SEAL while being Navy SEAL Senior Chief and 5 combat deployments. His first combat deployment was to Bosnia Herzegovina after signing the Dayton Accords. During the time, he developed more respect and pride for the nation, understanding why America not just emulates but protects its citizens. He had to go through multiple combat tours while being on his Navy SEAL service.
He covered the journey to Afghanistan and Iraq and served his responsibilities in the Horn of Africa, Europe, South and Central America, Asia, etc. For the short period, Derrick got involved in acting where he worked along with his military service starring in the motion picture Act of Valor. The cafe was established back in February 2017 and since then he along with his wife is handling the responsibilities of serving real food to real people.
