Maya Ray Thurman Hawke is an American actress and model from New York, United States. She is known for appearing in the third season of Netflix’s science-fiction horror Stranger Things in 2019.
Early life
Maya Ray Thurman Hawke was born on July 8, 1998, in New York City, New York, the United States to mother Uma Thurman and father Ethan Hawke, both of them are very well-known personalities in the industry. However, in 2005 they were divorced. She has one brother named Levon Thurman Hawke and three half-sisters named Clementine Hawke, Indiana Hawke, and Luna Thurman-Busson. Almost everyone in her family has been a renowned personality. Maya attended a private school in Brooklyn, Saint Ann’s School. Later she did summer studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and finally attended Juilliard School for performing arts. However, she dropped out as she was accepted for a role in Little Women.

While she was doing her studies in performing arts at Juilliard School, she had to drop out of the school after one year as she accepted her role in the television miniseries Little Women as Jo March in 2017. She was chosen to play the main role of The Little Mermaid but due to some conflict, she dropped from the movie. The same year she also started off her modeling career and worked for Vogue in the beginning and later was featured as the face of AllSaints 2016-2017 collection. In 2018 she played the role of Romy in the American thriller film Ladyworld.
In 2019, Maya Hawke appeared in the comedy-drama film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” directed by Quentin Tarantino as Flower Child. she worked on the same set as Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. Her major career breakthrough was seen she played the role of Robin Buckley in the third season of Stranger Things. Her role was one of the leads and Maya was widely appreciated for her outshining performance. In August 2019, she released her first two singles named To Love a Boy and Stay Open. Maya also did her first solo live performance following the song’s release.

The very same year, Maya was nominated and awarded for the Best Supporting Actress in Streaming Presentation at the 45th Saturn Awards for her role in Stranger Things. She was also nominated at the 26th Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in Stranger Things. subsequently, she was seen in the film Human Capita as Shannon and in the television miniseries The Good Lord Bird as Annie Brown. In 2020 she released her song, Coverage on April 22, and then on August 22, 2020, released her debut studio album Blush. Currently, she is started in the film Mainstream which is set to be released soon and is in production.
