Controversy
Cameron Herrin is recently involved in controversy since he was accused and found guilty in a vehicular murder case of a 24-year-old mother and her 1-year-old daughter. The incident happened back in 2018 when he was driving his Ford Mustang car in a street race along with his friend and brother at 100mph speed when suddenly hit Jessica Reisinger-Raubenolt and her daughter Lilia while they were crossing Tampa street. Jessica was pronounced dead after she reached Tampa General Hospital and her daughter Lillia died two days later. All three boys were known to have stayed at the spot for a while but did not talk or open up to the police.
A Case of murder was filed against Cameron in 2018 and the victim’s family wanted the maximum sentence. Cameron, his brother Tristan and his friend John Barrineau were also accused of daytime racing on the streets. The victim Jessica was a graduate of Kentucky State University and worked at Food 4 Thought cyber café and was in Florida to meet her Uncle. A fund was set for her family and has now raised a sum of $40,000 in her honor. Cameron was 18 years old during the incident and has now pleaded guilty to the murder of both the mother and daughter.

His brother Tristan has been released after a bail of $500 and his friend pleaded for a six-year term in jail with 15 years of probation. Cameron was sentenced to 24 years in prison accounting for more than half of his life. He was shocked after hearing his sentence and also a lot of people over social media have petitioned for a reduction in his sentence after they found him cute and considered him just a teenager who committed a mistake. The petitions of his sentence reduction have raised more than 18000 signatures and have also appealed to the President. As of now the appeal is pending.

Sorry, but I cannot garner any sympathy for this young man. I don’t believe this gives the whole picture of the criminal actions before this happened. Mr. Herrin was both old enough & smart enough to look at the worst case scenario that could happen. A lot of talk is made about 1/2 of his life being taken away…wrong, he threw it away when he made a conscious decision to get behind the wheel of his car & illegally race on city streets. The victim & her baby didn’t throw their life away…Herrin, his brother & their friend stole it from them, they also changed the lives of the families & friends of these innocent victims FOREVER. And, at least 3 or 4 times, in this piece alone it mentions how good looking & how young he is. That baby was only 1 yr old, she’ll never get to be 2 yrs old. Oh, I forgot…many people believe it’s OK to murder an infant capable of living outside a mothers womb – and call it abortion. I don’t even know anyone involved is this tragedy, yet I’m angry, angry because of all the people who think the sentence handed down is too harsh. He killed 2 people & he really screwed up. Perhaps one day we will have programs where these types of crimes will send the perpetrator to live with people permanently handicapped from preventable actions so they can see how real their actions become to those they damage. But first, parents, make sure your kids learn to face the consequences of their actions.
I agree with you. I know I saw all around social media that he looks “too handsome” to do such a thing but indeed he took the lives of a 1 yr. old baby who didn’t get to grow up and see their wonderful life ahead of them and the mother too she lost her life to a stupid guy that is an influencer and illegally racing on the streets. I thought influencers were supposed to be influential, but I guess not. Nowadays, influencers are poison and therefore people who commit crimes but not all influencers though.
